Five things I understand
1. The surgeon’s general spoke with Reed about the yellow fever. Reed tried to tell him about the mosquito theory but the surgeon said that that was a useless investigation.
2. Agramonte and Reed studied the cases of yellow fever at Pinar del Rio and noticed that there were more cases of yellow fever there than in any other place.
3. Reed and Lazear got together and had a meeting about the yellow fever. They were going to focus more on their studies about the mosquito theory.
4. There was a big debate about Doctors putting diseases on patients and children, also that some medical students would steal bodies from the grave.
5. Carroll ended up with yellow fever after being bitten by a mosquito that had before bitten a yellow fever patient. The mosquito theory seemed to be more clearly know. Lazear got note of what had happened to Carroll.

2. What exactly was the Surgeon’s General’s job?
3. What do people think today about vivisection?
4. Does Lazear keep experimenting even though the board told them no to?

Two Literally Elements
1. “The smell of Molasses thick in the air” (Crosby 145). This is personification. A smell cannot be thick in the air. It does not have a shape.
2. There is Man vs. himself on page 156. Lazear had received some mosquitoes from Mr. Finlay and was experimenting with them. He let one of then bit him but he didn’t end up with the yellow fever. He was discouraged about what he was going to do with his research.
One sentence Summary
1. The research on yellow fever begins to advance more. The theory on the mosquito is more likely to be true.
