The Namesake Third Journal Entry

Pg 116-174
Five things I understand
1. Ruth and Gogol broke up. Gogol changed his name to Nikhil.
2. The train that he was in stopped because someone had jumped in front of it.
3. Ashima and Sonia go to India for a wedding when Ashoke decides to tell his son what his name means.
4. Gogol meets Maxine and starts going out with her. He meets her parents and sees the difference with his.
5. Gogol has never seen his parents showing affection. Ashoke dies of a heart attack.

1. Will Gogol marry Maxine?
2. Will Gogol end up marrying an Indian girl?
3. Why don’t Gogol’s parents show affection in public?
4. How old is Maxine?

Two literally elements
1. “Down creeping into the sky” pg 158 This is personification.
2. “The sun’s strength already draining from the sky” pg 163 This is personification, the sun’s strnth does not drain, the earth just moves around it to make it dark or day.
One Sentence Summary
1. Ashoke, Gogol’s father dies of a heart attack.
