Five things I understand
1. The guy that was helping the children was named Windy and he treated them to food and a place to stay.
2. Dicey told Stewart and Windy about her situation and was hoping that they wouldn’t do anything to harm her family.
3. I understand that James had taken a 20 bill from Stewart on the day that they were going to get a ride to Bridgeport.
4. They finally arrived at the aunt’s house but then there was none in the house.
5. It turns out that the aunt had passed out and the daughter was the on in the house.
Four questions I have
1. Is the priest going to be helpful?
2. What is Dicey going to do know?
3. Will Dicey decide to stay and live with her cousin?
4. Until what period in Diceys’ life does this book go through?

Three Vocabulary words
1. Dingy pg 102: lacking light in a gloomy or unpleasant way
2. Fumbled pg112: ransitive and intransitive verb to grope clumsily in search of something
3. Formica pg 113: A trademark for a strong plastic laminate sheeting that is durable and easy to clean.

Two literally elements
1 “Dicey felt a chill spread out from her stomach and everything grew shades darker, as if a big black cloud had just covered the sun” pg 99, this is an example of what a simile is. It is comparing her stomach to something else.
2. “The air roared in their ears.” Pg 105, this is personification. The air cannot roar.
